CH Leaderboards April 2026 Devlog
Welcome to the April 2026 devlog! Devlogs are concise, to-the-point posts about the general work that has been going on with Clone Hero. The last few months have all seen a PTB release post in place of a devlog, and while this is not a release post, you’ll want to stick around to see what’s coming soon…
The gist of it
The Leaderboards release is around the corner
The team has been hard at work, and we are now ironing out the last few things before release. Since the last PTB, the overwhelming majority of all desyncs on guitar submissions (both 5- and 6-fret) have been fixed, with a mere 0.02% of all submissions still having desyncs. Drums and pro drums have a bit more work left, with 1.79% and 0.55% of all submissions. As a reminder, a desync happens when the game and the server-side validation disagree on the score that a run has performed. Validation is a way to catch cheaters and to make sure that runs are legitimate.
The rest of it
As per usual, a lot of bugs from the previous PTB were fixed alongside the rest of the work. Here are some of the highlights:
- lyrics are now generally fixed (addresses some rendering bugs linked to HTML and colour tags among others), including in practice mode
- drums charts with dynamics can now award a Perfect Dynamics FC crown on the leaderboards, the drums’ equivalent to guitar’s Perfect FCs
- the in-song leaderboards UI shows your current accuracy and FC status as you play
- the pause menu no longer locks until the end of the fade
- fixed a few crashes, softlocks, and generally weird behaviours when playing online
- fixed some crashes during content scanning
- added a Perfect FC ring! You’ll know whether you’re currently on a PFC, and when you lose it
- properly implemented the “deadly ghosting” modifier, where depleting the first segment of the ghost meter makes you lose combo
- MIDI devices are now remembered between game restarts
- fixed a few kinks to do with the interaction between No Fail and leaderboards
Final word
That’s it for this devlog. As we carry on the final rounds of testing, there is very little that is left to do before CH Leaderboards can be released. Stay tuned for the announcement, and thanks for reading!
