CH Leaderboards PTB 4 release!
The fourth Public Test Build for Clone Hero Leaderboards is here! This version focuses on tackling as many of the remainder of the game-side and validator-side desyncs as possible, as well as polishing drums and pro drums support for leaderboards. Let’s get into it!

Changelog
- On guitar, most if not all “soft” desync has been synced (those not affecting score), along with most “hard” desyncs (those that do). The remaining hard desyncs should be few and far between. Let us know whether you encounter any more desyncs, as we are nearing completion on these fixes!
- Drums and pro drums now have proper validation on the leaderboards. Pro drums should also include dynamics information so we can also correctly validate for accent notes.
- Xbox One Instruments are now supported natively, this removes the need for RB4InstrummentMapper and similar software to use your instruments with Clone Hero. Compatible instruments are: Madcatz RB4 Stratocaster/Drums, PDP Jaguar/Drums, PDP Riffmaster!
- Stem attenuation was added to the game, which is where the game lowers the volume of the audio tracks of the instruments you’re not playing. This is only available in single player mode, on charts that provide split audio tracks.
- 6-fret keys have been added! It is a new instrument in the vein of 6-fret lead, rhythm and bass, and behaves exactly as you’d expect.
- Versus mode now has live score tracking, showing each player the score difference between them and first place, or between first place and second place.
- The countdown HUD that appears during long breaks without notes has subtle pulsing effects on it.
- Crashes that could happen during song scanning have been fixed.
- The translation pipeline has been updated, meaning there should be less risk of seeing untranslated text in the wild.
- MIDI drums now work even when no controllers are plugged in.
- Some mac and android specific crashes were fixed related to library loading, and MIDI support was added.
- Work was done on a new version of the leaderboards backend to use a new, more feature-full replay format.
There is now little standing between this PTB and the final release, just the remaining hard desyncs, some more gamepad validation work, some dedicated online server updates, a bit of polish, and whichever issues get reported to us from this PTB.
Note on leaderboard score resets
As with every PTB release so far, we have to wipe the leaderboards once more to upgrade them to the new submission format, especially with the new drums and pro drums support, which are mostly transparent to players but involve big changes behind the scenes. We expect this to be less necessary as time goes on, but it’s safe to expect every new version to necessitate a leaderboards wipe, so don’t go grinding important scores with the expectation that they’re going to stick around while leaderboards are in Public Test Build state!
How to join the PTB
The only way to join the PTB is thorugh our Discord server, which you can find here. Once in, navigate to the Public Test Build channels, where you will find the dedicated channels for PTB announcements, downloads and discussion.
Final word
That’s it for this release announcement. As always, the team extends their thanks to the players willing to go through the bugs in the public test builds to help us fix them. Keep it going, and see you all in the next one!
