Migrating content from V0.23 to V1
With Clone Hero V1 finally released, some major changes have been made to the way custom content and player data are being handled by the game since the last version. If you are coming from a previous game version, follow these instructions to properly update and carry over all your content to V1.
Installation methods
On Windows, there are two methods available for installing the game, typical or portable. If you want to use Clone Hero on the move, such as from an external hard drive or USB stick, use the portable installation. Otherwise, you will probably want to stick with a typical installation.
On non-Windows systems, only the typical installation is available.
Migrating custom content
Migrating your custom content from the old, V0.23 version of Clone Hero to the new V1 version differs slightly depending on which operating system you use. Content migration is sadly not possible on Android.
Player profiles and scores are automatically handled by the new game version. All you have to worry about is your player settings and custom content. To do this, use the table below to know where to find each file, and where they should go. This will depend on your operating system, and on Windows, on your preferred method of installation.
Windows (typical and portable installation)
Lines that start with %USERPROFILE%
can be copied and pasted in the file explorer to directly access the corresponding directory.
What it is | Where you used to find it |
---|---|
Custom content folder | Previous game install folder |
Songs folder | Previous game install folder and/or wherever you used to keep songs |
settings.ini file |
Previous game install folder |
MIDI Profiles folder (PTB users only) | %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\srylain Inc_\Clone Hero |
All of these folders and files should then be moved to Documents\Clone Hero
for a typical installation, and to the PlayerData
folder in the game’s new installation directory for a portable installation. Be careful to copy the folders themselves and not just their contents!
Mac
Lines that start with ~

MIDI Profiles folder (PTB users only) | ~/Library/Application Support/com.srylain.CloneHero |
All of these folders and files should then be moved to ~/Clone Hero
